Modern, progressive and intolerant

The Labour Party have got their way. They incessantly hounded Lou Bondi until he gave up on blogging. His blogs had an edge but they just couldn’t handle it. The modern, progressive government in waiting just cannot take criticism.

Lou Bondi, along with other bloggers, said it how he saw it - we all do. We blog because we care and want to make our opinion known. We do it because we have a point of view in a society that we hope can accept differing points of view.

Let’s face it, nobody enjoys criticism. We all do our best at what we do and when someone criticises, being it constructive or otherwise, we eat humble pie, berate ourselves for not having done better, acknowledge that we could have done better and resolve to take it into account next time.

Now contrast the way the PN and the PL have reacted to criticism and comment.

Have you ever heard the Prime Minister protest about the pack of lies that emanate from those bastions of independent comment l-Orizzont and Torca? Have you heard Austin Gatt try to muzzle students who call him a fucking wanker? Have you heard the PN protest against Super One’s independent panels of PL activists?

Of course not! They might not like it but they accept it and move on.

The PL is totally different. Any attempt to criticise is put down with the implied “Min m’huwiex maghna huwa kontra taghna” and instead of listening and reacting they dismiss it as imbalance. They cannot counter arguments because they are a party of superficial thoughts and lack any originality or depth. They want to muzzle comment because they cannot respond.

How can we trust such an intolerant bunch to govern us? They will hide and control and manipulate us and package up silly ideas that have not been thought through - their key to success is to take the opposite approach but they forever look a gift horse in the mouth.
